About the Movie
Where politics, passion, and a few secrets collide.
An ambitious Chicago attorney running for Illinois Attorney General reluctantly discovers that her chance at true love may be found in the unlikeliest person: her political opponent.
Synopsis
Fresh off a major U.S. Supreme Court victory, Loréal Rogers is taking her sharp mind and unapologetic confidence to the campaign trail. She wants to be Illinois Attorney General, and voters are paying attention. There is just one problem: Jaxon Bryant, the charismatic former U.S. Attorney whose father's political legacy makes him the candidate to beat.
Their first encounters are anything but harmonious. Yet beneath the arguments and campaign maneuvering, a connection neither expected begins to take hold. As the race intensifies, old wounds and deeply personal secrets complicate a romance that could upend everything they have planned.
Set against the beauty and energy of Chicago, Love Will Save the Day is a romantic dramedy about ambition, intimacy, and the courage to be fully known. A love letter to Black women and the city that shaped its filmmaker, the film asks what becomes possible when we stop letting fear decide how much love we deserve.
The first feature-length romantic dramedy of its kind, with an HIV storyline at its heart.
Meet the FilmmakersFrom the director
I wanted to make a film that gives us permission to laugh, fall in love, and see ourselves with a little more compassion. Love Will Save the Day brings those possibilities into a world I know and love: Chicago, with all of its beauty, ambition, complexity, and heart.
My short film 90 DAYS showed me that audiences will laugh, swoon, and lean in when a love story tells the truth. Love Will Save the Day is a new story with new characters: Loréal and Jaxon, two people who know how to fight for what they want in public but have much more to learn about what they need in private.
Loréal's journey is about the freedom to matter fully. She has built a life around achievement, yet still carries fears about what the world will do with her truth. I want audiences to recognize something of themselves in that tension, and to root for her happiness as fiercely as she fights for her future.
This is a film about the things we believe make us unlovable, and the possibility that we have been wrong about ourselves all along.
